Where is Ahmad Motevari after 1 year, prisoner in Khorramshahr
The family of Ahmad (Amin) Motevari in Khorramshahr are still hoping for news of his fate and condition a year passes since he was detained.
He was arrested in May 2017 in the Khuzestan Province by Intelligence forces. The detainee’s family has had no success on the follow-ups and approaches by the security agencies and the courts. Ahmad was beaten by the intelligence agents during his arrest in front of his family’s eyes.
The US, just last month, put sanctions on Tehran’s Evin Prison and says it is controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. There have been documented accounts of torture and other human rights abuses at the facility for decades, including by Amnesty International. Deaths of dissidents and activists rose this year, including Kavous Seyed Emami. The Iranian-Canadian environmentalist’s corpse was shown to his wife hanging in a cell two weeks after his arrest. According to CIA documents, some of the 52 Americans taken hostage by Iranian militants at the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979 were held for a while at the prison.
