New Centrifuge Rotor Factory Claimed by Iran
New centrifuge rotor factory claimed by Iran’s number one atomic organizer today. Ali Akbar Salehi said Iran has built a factory that will deliver rotors up to 60 centrifuges every 24 hours.
On the one hand, Iran juggles to save its nuclear deal but has also claimed its recent agreement breach. Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization said his country has been busy building a site. He tells state media while atomic negotiations are on, they can now produce 60 centrifuges per day.
Salehi has the full support from Ali Khamenei, saying “Of course, the [Supreme Leader] was completely informed.” “We gave him the necessary information at the time. And now that he has given the order this factory has started all its work.”
Perhaps it’s not all clear what Iran is up to by such actions but it is a clear violation. Similar violations of the JCPOA has been repeated by Iran during its history.
The new centrifuge rotor factory claimed by Iran today is probably targeting Washington’s stakes over a nuclear regime. Last month Khamenei gave orders for his country to have enrichment in place. The related agencies seem to have been preparing ever since. Iran wants to increase its uranium enrichment capacity as the nuclear deal is falling apart.
Now with the world powers unable to retrieve any remainders of the deal and after US’s withdrawal, Iran stands alone.
Salehi was quoted saying, “Instead of building this factory within seven or eight years, we built it during the negotiations. But we have not started it.”
