More cities join protests over customs regulations
Protests that started in cities of Kermanshah and Kurdistan provinces over increase in customs charges are quickly spreading to more cities in Iran’s western border region.
According to reports, the merchants of Saqqez, Kurdistan, went on strike on Tuesday in solidarity with other merchants and shop owners who started the movement earlier this week. Shops were closed at work hours.
The protests started in the cities of Baneh and Javanroud. Similar protests have started in the city of Marivan, Kurdistan.
