Iranians who had gathered in Iran’s capital to mark International Labor Day on the first of May were attacked by security forces.
Reports and videos from the Tehran labor gathering outside Iran’s parliament building indicated that security forces attacked the peaceful demonstration and detained a number of protesters.
Pensioners, teachers and university students also participated in the gatherings in addition to workers. They chanted, “Workers, teachers, students, unite, unite”.
The demonstrators also chanted, “With all these embezzlements, workers are in prison” protesting systematic government corruption and the detention of workers.
“Our pain is your pain, people join us,” they chanted calling on others to join them.
Reports indicate that security forces arrested a number of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Syndicate members and students during the rally.
Other Labor Day gatherings were held in Marivan in the western province of Kurdistan and in Sush in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
