Iran just wants to make it, the US President said at a campaign rally last night.
“Before I became President I looked at what was happening with Iran – they were taking over the Middle East,” he said speaking in Kansas last night.
“They were taking Syria, they were taking Yemen, they were going into Iraq, they were taking everything!
“Now, they just want to make it. They have riots in every city.”
The US President ended the nuclear deal he deemed “horrible” and levied heavy sanctions on Iran with the worst sanctions being implemented on November 4.
All this has had a disastrous effect on the economy and has helped fuel anti-government protests, the most recent being the ongoing truck drivers’ strike which has spread to more than 300 cities in all of Iran’s 31 provinces on its 15th day.
“I withdrew the United States from the horrible one-sided Iran nuclear deal,” the President added.
He blasted the Obama administration, that signed the deal in 2015 saying that “the previous administration gave Iran $150billion and, even crazier, they gave them $1.8billion in cash.”
In an address broadcast by state television on Thursday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that the people of Iran were facing a sensitive time because of pressure from America and economic problems.
Khamenei was speaking to tens of thousands of members of the Basij militia and top Revolutionary Guards leaders gathered in a stadium in Tehran.
“The situation of the nation, region and world is sensitive, especially for us the people of Iran,” Khamenei said.
