Arash Sadeqi Cancer Tests Needed Urgently
Arash Sadeqi’s cancer tests are urgently needed as doctors have discovered a bone tumor in his elbow. This political prisoner, 31 years old, is being held from visiting the specialized cancer center.
The authorities in Rajaee Shahr Prison, where Arash serves his 19 years sentence, have not taken any action in this regard. This tumor is reported to be in his scapula and could be cancerous that must be tested.
During the past year, Arash Sadeghi had suffered from chronic pain in his shoulder. Instead of referring him to a hospital, prison authorities had prescribed him anti-inflammatory drugs. Amnesty International is now desperately calling on Iranian authorities to transfer the imprisoned human rights activist to a cancer treatment center.
It was only last month that the prison clinic took a radiography picture of Arash. A few days later they sent Arash to a hospital outside, which was unexpected for him. He was examined by a cancer doctor but medics would not explain his conditions to him. He was only able to hear the doctors say he is suspected of having bone marrow.
Arash was given a few moments to read his medical record as he was taken to the hospital. In his profile, medics had referred him to the main Cancer Institute in Khomeini Hospital.
The Amnesty International wrote yesterday, The authorities are disregarding medical advice which recommends his immediate transfer to a facility specializing in cancer treatment.
Back in 2016, the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced Arash because he attended protests and disrespected the supreme leader. His wife is an activist too who has been put in prison for six years because she wanted to publish a book about stoning in Iran. To protest Golrokh Ebrahimi’s arrest, Sadeghi went on a hunger strike for 71 days.
