30 million cubic meters of water has dried out from the Hamoun wetland in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. The Hamoun dam is placed on the Helmand River, 161 km north-west of Kandahar and provides water for 103 million people. Farmers who receive water from the Hamoun wetland now fear that their drinking water will soon run out.
Small children in the District of Dashtiari in Chabahar, near the Afghanistan border, are trying to take what is left of their water. The people of Sistan and Baluchestan Province are left with no choice than to drink dirty water. The government of Iran has not taken any measures to prevent further hazards.
